  • The Nation Weather Service – Mt. Holly - has issued a Coastal Storm warning for our area for September 22 to September 24, 2023. A strong coastal low will impact our region including: major to moderate coastal flooding, strong winds along the coast, heavy rainfall, dangerous rip currents, high surf and beach erosion.     The Borough of Longport is happy to announce that work on its new water well, Well #4, is now complete and the system is online. We would like to thank our residents for their patience and understanding throughout the entire construction phase.

  • A Message form Longport Mayor Nick Russo Regarding the Longport Branch of the United States Postal Service

    Although, I have not received an official notice from the United States Postal Service, the general consensus is that the Longport Branch is scheduled to close on Saturday, July 29, 2023. Those who have Post Office Boxes, I assume, should contact the Margate or Ventnor branches regarding PO Box services. We did our best to keep the post office open, the reality is that our community has changed over the last 15 years and commercial space no longer exists. Longport is now, basically, a residential community.

  • Atlantic Avenue Roadway Construction Update pertaining to Sidewalks and Driveway Aprons - April 19, 2023 - Parking Request During Pouring of Driveway Aprons

    Dear Longport Residents, The Borough of Longport roadway construction project on Atlantic Avenue spanning from 27th to 22nd avenues has now entered the sidewalk construction phase. Contractors have begun pouring concrete and this work may impact homes in the construction area where concrete will be poured for new driveway aprons as needed. Borough officials are requesting that vehicles be parked in other areas such as side streets so that this important work can be completed in a timely manner. Construction remains on schedule for completion late May. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your continued patience and understanding.


  • 2023 Longport Beach Patrol Tryouts - Applications due by June 4th!

    The Longport Beach Patrol will be hosting tryouts for all prospective lifeguards on Saturday, June 10th at 9:30 am. All applications are due by June 4th, including the signed Physician Statement and waiver. They can be dropped off to Longport Borough Hall during the week or directly to Longport Beach Patrol Headquarters on weekends starting Memorial Day weekend. A mandatory meeting will be held downstairs in the Community Room at Beach Patrol Headquarters on Friday, June 9th at 5pm. Failure to attend this mandatory meeting will result in being pulled from the tryouts.

  • We are pleased to announce that the Borough has achieved Sustainable Jersey Bronze Certification!  198 municipalities participate of which 158 have achieved the BRONZE status and 40 have silver.  We are also happy to announce that the Borough was selected to receive the Creativity and Innovation Award for its Plastic Bag Ordinance.  We would like to thank our residents and especially our Green Team for the work and effort in helping us attain this achievement.

Reed Park to honor the memory of five U.S. Coast Guard Members who lost their lives on March 6, 1932. A bronze plaque will be installed in their memory. The public is invited to attend.     New Jersey’s Bag Ban is in effect starting May 4th. Beginning May 4th, all stores, food service businesses, and grocery stores will be prohibited from selling to, or providing customers with, single-use plastic carryout bags. Also, food service businesses will be prohibited from selling or offering any polystyrene foam food service product and may not sell or provide any food served in a polystyrene food service product. Longport Municipal Engineer Richard L. Carter, P.E., P.P., CME, was presented a key to the city at the December 16, 2020, Board of Commissioners Meeting. Mr. Carter has announced that he is retiring after 34 years of dedicated service to the Borough of Longport. Congratulations, Mr. Carter!!!
